Bentley_Continental_GT_Speed_Convertible_webBentley has announced that it would be debuting its new Continental GT Speed Convertible at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 14th January 2013.

This performance convertible is claimed to be the fastest four-seater convertible in the world. The new GT Speed Convertible is powered bya twin-turbo 6.0 litre W12 engine with 625 PS. This power is harnessed by a close-ration eight-speed transmission that in combination with an energy recuperation system delivers a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency. The car accelerates from 0-100kph in 4.4 seconds and 0-160 kph in 9.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 325 kph. Peak torque of 800 Nm is available from 2,000-5,000 RPM for strong performance and driveability.

The car features permanent all-wheel drive – with a 60-:40 bias in favor of the rear wheels – for optimum traction and power delivery on all kinds of roads, with the handling further enhanced by lowered and uprated suspension and retuned steering that also provides better acceleration. Exterior highlights include 21-inch alloy wheels, ‘rifled’ exhaust pipes and dark-tinted grilles. The car’s handcrafted cabin features the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, which includes the distinctive diamond-quilted hide upholstery and a Dark Tint Aluminium ‘engine spin’ finish, inspired by the dashboards of the Le Mans winning Bentleys from the 1920s. Bentley has high hopes for the new GT Speed Convertible, targeting it at drivers seeking the thrill of a luxurious sportscar with the practicality of a four-seater grand tourer.
