The Indian car market chalked up a sale of 2.94 lakh units for the month of November 2022 and the majority of that was garnered by Maruti Suzuki with a sale of 1,59,044 vehicles in the month of November.
This included domestic passenger and commercial vehicles along with exports and sales to other OEMs.
The company sold 1,32,395 passenger vehicles compared to the sales figure of 1,13,017 units for November 2021. The category of mini and compact vehicles garnered a total sales of 91,095 vehicles, this includes cars like Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Dzire, Ignis, Celerio, Swift, Tour S and Wagon R.
The utility segment saw a sale of 32,563 units, which comprised of cars like Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6 and Grand Vitara. The van category recorded a sale of 7,183 units of the Eeco. The mid-size segment recorded a sale of 1,554 units of the Ciaz.
Hyundai stand in second place with a sale of 44,559 units as opposed to 38,454 units in 2021. Tata have sold 40,251 units against 29,595 units in 2021. Mahindra clocked a sale of 28,127 against 17,750 units in 2021. Ford have recorded the lowest sale of four cars as opposed to 553 units in the last year. Other OEMs with low sales are Force with 125 units, Citroen with 635 units, Jeep with 984 units and Nissan with 2,643 units.
Few OEMs have experienced negative variation, such as Honda with 6,600 units against 7,945 units recorded last year. Similarly, Renault clocked 6,330 units against 8,927 units in 2021. Jeep, Nissan and Ford have also experienced negative variation.
Maruti Suzuki recently updated their CNG line-up with the Alto K-10 CNG, Baleno CNG, XL6 CNG, Swift CNG and the S-Presso CNG. The company recently updated the Eeco and it has recently achieved the production mark of 2.5 crores.
