Home / News / Webber to leave F1 at the end of the 2013 season

Mark_Webber_1_webIt’s official. Mark Webber will part ways with F1 at the end of this season to join Porsche’s sports car racing programme,

in all probability as a pilot for their LMP1 in the 2014 World Endurance Championship.

Mark Webber, currently with Red Bull Racing, was always second fiddle to Sebastian Vettel, now a triple world champion. Of late, there were many rumours that he would be replaced; being on an annual contract with the team from the beginning. After the Malaysian Grand Prix this year, and after what was one of the most somber podiums ever, it was evident that Mark was unhappy and could not contain it any longer. It will be sad to see him go, but his future still holds more racing, and for that we are glad.

Mark’s driving style was smooth and he rarely made mistakes. He became well known testing for Benetton before driving for Minardi in 2002, scoring 2 points with a 5th place in the very first race of the season, which just happened to be his home Grand Prix in Australia. Since then, he has driven for Jaguar (2003-04) and Williams (2005-06) before joining the Red Bull Racing team in 2007.

Car India wishes him all the very best for the future.Mark_Webber_2_webMark_Webber_3_webMark_Webber_4_webMark_Webber_5_web
