5. GTA Spano
A lesser known name worldwide, GTA Motor showed the Spano supercar at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, with the more powerful version only revealed earlier this year. The chassis is constructed using carbon-fibre, graphene, titanium and Kevlar, keeping things light and strong. While they don’t make the engine themselves, what they’ve put into the car justifies its presence here: a twin-turbocharged 8.0-litre V10 derived from the Dodge Viper makes 925 PS and 1,220 Nm of torque. With the lightweight body only tipping the scales at 1,400 kg, the Spano boasts of a power-to-weight ratio of over 660 PS/tonne and that permits a 0-100 km/h dash of just 2.9 seconds! Production is limited to 99 cars.
Essentials: 8.0-litre, twin-turbo, 925 PS, 1,220 Nm, Rs 4.5 crore (plus taxes)
NOTE: The GTA Spano was not the only car to use a Viper-derived V10. The Bristol Fighter T also used a turbocharged version of the Viper engine, delivering over 1,000 PS, but being constantly developed, never really went on to put down any concrete benchmarks.
