8. Porsche Carrera GT

Porsche Carrera GT web

With new waves of supercars beginning to crest back in 2003, Porsche revealed their extreme performance sports car, the Carrera GT, powered by a 5.7-litre V10 capable of 612 PS and 590 Nm. The engine, secretly developed for use in F1 as far back as in 1992, was never revealed. It was even considered for their Le Mans programme, but the project stood cancelled at the end of ’99. In 2000, the company showcased a V10 prototype concept car. The response was encouraging and, in 2004, Porsche produced the GT in limited numbers. It was capable of 0-160 km/h in 6.8 seconds. However, knowing their engineering prowess, many felt that the company had held back on what the car was truly capable of.

Essentials: 5.7-litre, naturally aspirated, 612 PS, 590 Nm, Rs 3.2 crore (no longer available)
