7. Volkswagen Touareg R50 TDI
The VW Group didn’t just make V10 petrol engines, they made diesels too! The Touareg luxury SUV was one of the beneficiaries of this mammoth powerplant: a 4,921-cc V10 turbo-diesel making 350 PS and 850 Nm in its top variant – the R50. Rumour has it that the VW Group is resurrecting the V10 TDI for the upcoming Bentley Bentayga super-luxury SUV. The output would be far more given that the Group’s 4.2-litre V8 TDI presently has figures of 385 PS and 850 Nm.
