The Tata Indigo eCS recently entered the Limca Book of Records after setting a new endurance record with a non-stop nation-wide mileage run through all four gateways – Koteshwar in West to Kibithu in East, and Kashmir in the North to Kanyakumari in the South, having crossed 19 states and union territories and covering over 14,000 km in just 15 days.

In February 2012, Tata Motors and a team from a leading automotive publication flagged off the drive, driving the car through varied terrains and climatic conditions. KPMG has been associated with the event to track the distance by GPS and validate the mileage results. Statistics from the drive are given below:

  • Best fuel economy recorded: 41.14 kmpl

  • Average fuel economy: 18.7 kmpl

  • Total time spent behind the wheel: 342 hours

  • Longest time spent in the car at a stretch: 96 hours

  • Maximum distance covered in a single stretch: 998 km

  • Average distance covered in 24 hours: 933.8 km

Speaking on this achievement, Mr Ranjit Yadav, President – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, commented that the endurance record validated the robustness and fuel-efficiency of the car and serves as encouragement for the development of innovative products offering class-first value propositions.
