Home / News / Spyker all set for India!

Spyker_India_web_1Dutch exotic supercar maker Spyker is on their way into the country. They have already appointed a group based in New Delhi and will commence operations by the end of this year.

The first model for India has already been specified and will be put into build in Q4 this year. Peter Van Rooy, Head of Global Sales for Spyker N.V., also confirmed that the company will announce the name of their Indian partner in the coming months.

The questions began when Spyker showcased the B6 Venator Concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Apart from being a stunning creation with lavish attention to detail, a key announcement was that they perceived India as an important market. Of course, they would have to be here. Supercars don’t sell in huge numbers, but they have indeed carved a niche for themselves.

If you are familiar with the Spyker name, it’s probably because of their presence in Formula 1. Before businessman Vijay Mallya bought the team which became Force India, it was Spyker Racing, running a pair of orange cars with none other than Adrian Sutil behind the wheel.

As far as their road-legal car programme goes, Spyker have two very potent high-sports luxury cars. The first is the venerable C8 Aileron, capable of 300 km/h with a powerful V8 engine (from Audi) bringing all of 400 PS and 480 Nm. The second car will be the production version of the B6 Venator (Latin for “hunter”. The “Hunter” was Spyker’s fighter aircraft in the early 20th century). The B6 Venator will be another exceptional mid-engined offering from the exclusive car maker and will be powered by a transverse-mounted V6 making over 380 PS, while weighing under 1,400 kg.

When they do arrive, don’t expect them to be anywhere near affordable with prices, in all probability, starting at well over Rs 2 crore.
