Range_Rover_TDV6_webThe much-awaited V6 diesel variant of the Range Rover is finally here. Land Rover has introduced the Range Rover TDV6 in India, powered by a 3.0L V6 diesel engine.

When the new Range Rover was launched, it raised quite a few eyebrows with its lightweight aluminium construction which ended up saving 420 kg of weight! This substantial reduction allowed for the introduction of a V6 engine. The 3.0L V6 diesel engine uses sequential twin-turbocharging and makes 258 PS at 4,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm. A new ZF 8-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels. The Range Rover TDV6 weighs in at just 2,160 kg and has a coefficient of drag figure of just 0.34. These translate to some astonishing numbers for a V6-powered Range Rover: 0-100 km/h comes up in just 7.9 seconds and the top speed of 209 km/h. The fuel efficiency is rated at 13.33 km/L combined, with a rating of 11.76 km/L city and 14.28 km/L highway. With an 85 litre tank, the Range Rover offers a range of over 1100 km.

When Jaguar Land Rover India launched the Range Rover earlier this year, they only introduced the SDV8 diesel and supercharged V8 petrol variants. The new TDV6 has been launched in two trim levels: HSE and Vogue. Prices for the TDV6 start from Rs.1.47 crore ex-showroom, but they will rise by around Rs.25 lakh from April, 2013 once the new Union Budget becomes effective. Jaguar Land Rover have sold 2,393 cars in 2012, representing a 32% growth. The company hopes to build on this momentum with the new Range Rover TDV6. For what it offers, it is sure to be a popular choice among luxury SUV buyers.
