Range_Rover_Sport_web_1After a few teasers which showed the soon-to-be-launched Range Rover Sport in streaks or in a container, Land Rover has finally revealed the new model at the New York International Auto Show.

Actor Daniel Craig gave the world the first view of the new car, in a typically Hollywood movie style, as he drove through New York City.

The new Range Rover Sport features their signature premium chassis with lightweight aluminium construction and a slew of technological updates to make life easier for occupants. Their new customer-focussed technology package brings in Land Rover’s new ‘connected car’ technology suite. It also delivers added flexibility with a optional a 5+2 setup for passenger seating.

Bringing the power to the new Range Rover Sport are a selection of petrol and diesel engines. The new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol with 340 PS begins the petrol line-up while the diesel line-up has the 3.0-litre V6 sequential turbo diesel now available as a 258 PS TDV6 or a more powerful 292 PS SDV6. The peak torque figure for both engines is 600 Nm. The 510 PS supercharged V8 petrol is the top-of-the-line option. Land Rover will also introduce the 339 PS 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel version in early 2014, with a diesel hybrid version set to follow soon. All engines are paired the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with an intelligent start/stop system. There’s also a choice of one of two full-time four-wheel-drive systems. Land Rover’s TerrainResponse 2 makes the new model adept on all kinds of terrain with a new ‘auto’ setting taking adaptability to a new level. Land Rover also offers a comprehensive list of electronic driving and safety aids as standard.
