Ever since its introduction in the Indian market the XUV500 has been Mahindra & Mahindra’s trump card in the SUV segment.

Officials of the Pune-based car manufacturer have now revealed that cars built from 2011-2012 will be recalled due to certain technical problems. A few select batches of the XUV500 have already been called back to replace their fluid hose, front power window unit and left wiper blade cover.

Mahindra technicians have been told to carry out the replacement of these parts immediately. The company have also stated that the exercise will be carried out free of cost for the XUV500 owners. The recall has been in terms with the industry compliance of SIAM’s (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) voluntary code with effect from July 2012. Whether this recall will hamper the XUV500 sales figures is yet to be seen.
