Now this is something that will gladden the hearts of kids and F1 fans (and kids who are F1 fans)!

Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa recently unveiled a life-size 1:1 scale model of the team’s 2011 Ferrari F150 Italia car made entirely out of Lego bricks, in Australia just ahead of the season-opening Melbourne Grand Prix. The model is a very detailed recreation of the original car. Ferrari has not released too many details of the model (e.g. how many 100s of bricks used!, but what is known is that it uses real Pirelli race tyres and a seat that can actually accommodate a driver. Once the driver is seated, every part of the car that he/she can reach is made from Lego bricks, including the complicated F1 steering wheel.

The Lego F1 car continues a promotional campaign running between Ferrari and Shell for some time now. Previously, in Hong Kong, Shell offered customers a choice among one of six mini Ferrari Lego kits based on iconic Ferraris including the F40, 458 Italia, FXX, 250 GT Berlinetta, the Scuderia Ferrari Truck, and a small-size version of the F150 Italia. Buying a Ferrari just got a whole lot easier!
