Home / News / Lamborghini Urus SUV gets production go-ahead

Lamborghini_Urus_1_webThis news was a long time coming; Lamborghini have officially received the green signal to begin development of a road-going Urus production model.

With their parent company, the Volkswagen Group, having given the go-ahead, the Italian supercar maker will commence their SUV project which should see the final production-ready version of the new car just before 2017.

The Urus will be the first modern-day SUV from the company, and may even be available with a diesel engine; a first for Lamborghini. The Urus will probably sport a V10 petrol engine and a V8 diesel engine, with all-wheel-drive offered as standard, although it remains to be seen what environmental norms will dictate engine technology, capacity and efficiency at the time.

Lamborghini are said to be considering the Urus as a “volume model”, considering that Ferrari are outselling them rather consistently every year. As far as pricing goes, we can safely assume a price tag significantly higher than the Porsche Cayenne or for that matter the Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg.Lamborghini_Urus_2_webLamborghini_Urus_3_webLamborghini_Urus_4_web
