German automobile giant, BMW, will unveil their first front-wheel driven hybrid tourer concept at the forth coming 2012 Paris motor show.

The concept active tourer is equipped with a new twin-power turbo 1.5 liter 3-cylinder engine, an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. The luxury car maker has not disclosed any production or pricing plans as of now, but they state that the concept is a compact crossover which is a key component in BMW’s ongoing development in brand building and increase in its portfolio.

Inside the cabin, there are multiple display screens along with an eight-inch gauge cluster display which provides the driver with all necessary driving information. BMW’s signature head-up display unit is an optional piece of equipment. This radical concept is a stark contrast to BMW’s adherence to current BMW rear-wheel offerings. The hybrid tourer has a maximum range of more than 30 kilometers on a single charge and can be charged from a 220-volt household power socket.
