Floating_Mini_OpenerMini has always been known as one of the darlings of the automotive world. Well, what happens when the Mini decides to go for a swim?

Heads are surely going turn, that’s what. Mini USA are all set to make a splash with a special edition model which showcase the perfect meaning of buoyancy. In simple terms it is a Mini which can float on water.

The auto manufacturer turned heads at Cambridge, Massachusetts, over the weekend when it tested its buoyant special edition Mini on the river Charles. The convertible Mini boat, which is powered by a 6PS outboard motor, is a fiberglass version of a 2004 Mini hard-top. This special edition fiberglass car has been created from a mold which is mounted to a boat hull. To spice things up it has been decked out with all the usual Mini accessories, including wheels, tyres, headlights, badge, steering wheel and grille which by the way are fully functional.

This floating Mini has been specially built as part of Mini USA’s annual Motor-Tober activities, which has been dedicated to celebrate the fun aspect about the Mini brand. Tom Salkowsky, Mini USA’s marketing manager said, “We challenged our regional staff and the dealers in their respective areas to identify ‘Not Normal’ ways to celebrate this Motor-Tober by engaging the Mini community and demonstrate why it’s an exciting brand family to be part of The Mini USA Eastern Region has created the perfect example of what the ‘Motor-Tober Not Normal Sales Event’ is all about with the Mini convertible boat.”
