Looks like Chevrolet India are all set to make the upcoming year theirs with a series of launches planned and being tested already.
The business portfolio of Chevrolet over the past couple of years has been quite outstanding, the fact being that they have offerings across all the segments in the market. The latest addition to this every increasing portfolio is the new ‘Sail Sedan’, which we have spotted testing in and around Pune quite frequently. GM India has also released a few teaser details of the Sail sedan on their website. This mid-size saloon from the GM stable is directly pitted against the Maruti Swift DZire, The Sail will be offered in two variants: 1.2 petrol and 1.4 diesel. Externally expect the Sail to be much more spacious, just like the smaller Sail U-VA hatchback. Expected around early 2013 and the expected price has been put at Rs 6–7.5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The other expected launches from Chevrolet this year are the upcoming MPV, Chevrolet Enjoy, and the refreshed Chevrolet Spark. As shown by the company at the Auto Expo 2012 and reported by us too, the Enjoy is expected to be launched early this year. Expected to come with a 1.3-litre Multijet (with the same state of tune as the recently launched Chevrolet Sail U-VA) and a de-tuned version of Tavera’s 2.2-litre diesel mill as options, this one would be a rather good-looking addition to the options available in the segment. There will also be a petrol option in the form of a 1.4-litre, 95.9-PS engine. The Enjoy will be a rear-drive model to be produced at GM’s Halol plant. Alongside, the Spark with a facelift was also spotted. The Spark now has a similar front grille to that of the Sail U-VA, with edgier lines running on the bonnet. A new bumper, with fog-lamps and slightly changed headlamp units. The engine, however, remains unchanged.
