2. Lexus LF-A
What sort of car would require a manufacturer to stick an eye-watering price-tag on it just to try and break even? Something like the LF-A, of course. Toyota’s luxury division began work on a supercar as long ago as the year 2000, before the production model was finally showcased at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The 560-PS 4.8-litre V10 engine gathered revs so quickly, the company couldn’t use an analogue tachometer, instead having to offer a digital display so that the needle could actually keep up and show the correct RPM read-out. Another highlight is the use of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) for 65 per cent of the body, making it both strong and light. Featured in the fifth instalment of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, ‘Fast Five’, as Hahn’s go-to dream car, the LF-A has always attracted the sports car enthusiast on account of its raw, unadulterated ability.
