2014 Toyota Verso 1 web

Come February 2014, buyers of the 2014 Toyota Verso will receive an all-new powerplant under the bonnet of their new ride. Toyota had announced their tie-up with BMW for engines and now the first recipient of that collaboration is the 2014 Verso. The Verso is Toyota’s compact 7-seater on sale in the UK and, as a rather popular model, will be among the first of its line-up to get the all-new engine.

Out goes the old 2.0-litre D-4D and in comes the BMW-developed 1.6-litre D-4D making 110 PS and 270 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,250 rpm. Paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, it promises quicker acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 12.7 seconds and manages a top speed of 185 km/h. The new engine features a 20% lower displacement but brings in better efficiency, driveability, emissions and flexibility. With an provisional 119 g/km of CO2 and 22.2 km/l, the Verso looks set to raise the amounts of refinement and efficiency it was already noted for. Prices start from £16,995 (Rs 17 lakh approx) with deliveries set to commence in March 2014 in the UK.

We can’t help but wonder if Toyota are considering the Verso for India as there’s will always be demand for a comfortable, refined and reliable 7-seater.
