Kolkata makes a niche for itself in the drag racing scene.
The Behala Flying Club’s air strip was abuzz with activity as fast cars and bikes participating in the India Speed Week entertained the 7,000 people in attendance. Spread over three days, the final showdown took place on December 11, 2016. The fest was an aural and visual buffet for enthusiasts as it served up a variety of thrilling events like drag racing, auto-car expo, test drives, adventure sports, glamour and entertainment.
India Speed Week 2016, in collaboration with Elite Octane Inc. was also backed by India’s apex motorsport association – the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor’s presence amplified the glamour quotient at the event . In addition to the entertainment provided by the vehicles, the organisers had also managed to arrange for band performances that got the audience grooving.
Speaking at the event, Amit Kumar Modi, Chairman, ISW said, “I have seen the excitability good cars and bikes and how people are involved. They needed a platform and we have provided it.”
