5-Oct-CI-Wed-3The Range Rover expectedto be available by end of 2011
ENTHUSED BY THE BOOMING premium SUV segment in the Indian market, Land Rover plan to launch the Range Rover Evoque in the country by the end of this year.

The Evoque is RR’s compact SUV, which sits lower than a full-sized Freelander and weighs about 100 kg less too. First showcased at the North American International Auto Show, the Evoque will compete with the BMW X1 and the soon to be launched Audi Q3. Internationally, the Evoque comes with a two-litre petrol engine (producing 240 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (150 PS, 380 Nm). The company is likely to bring both these engines to India. Similarly, the car will come with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is also speculated that this compact Range Rover will come in both three-door and fi ve-door versions. Coming as a completely built-up unit (CBU) to the country, the Evoque will be priced at about Rs 45 lakh, more expensive than its competitors that are assembled locally.
