Story: Aninda Sardar
Eleven years after Toyota started weaving the magic of the Innova, one of the best selling MPVs (if not the best) in India for over a decade, the company has launched the second generation of the Innova, christened Innova Crysta. The Innova Crysta range starts at Rs 13,83,677 and finishes at Rs 20,77,930, both prices being ex-showroom in Mumbai.
The Innova Crysta (click here for the Toyota Innova Crysta First Drive Review) is available in four trim levels with the bottom three trim lines offering a choice between a seven and an eight-seater configuration. Standard safety equipment across the range includes three airbags, ABS, EBD, and Brake Assist. The range-topping ZX trim level gets seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist in addition to the default safety kit. Meanwhile creature comforts include a 3-D design combination meter with 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display and automatic LED projector headlamps, among others.
Customers of the Toyota Innova Crysta can choose between a 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 150 PS and 343 Nm or a 2.8-litre diesel engine with 174 PS and 360 Nm. While the former is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the latter is mated to a six-speed automatic. The vehicle also gets two driving modes – Eco and Power.
Ever since its launch in India, the Innova has maintained its No. 1 positioning in its segment. Often referred to as a segment creator and better known to be synonymous with MPVs in India, the Toyota Innova is one such iconic brand which is not just the pride of Toyota but the pride of over 6 lakh owners of Innova in India. Now, with the new Innova Crysta, we intend to take this commitment a notch above by giving our customers the best Innova possible in terms of powerful performance, luxurious features, comfort and most importantly safety. The new Innova ‘Crysta’ is sure to get everybody excited, said Akito Tachibana, newly appointed Managing Director of TKM, on the launch of the new Toyota Innova Crysta.
