Mahindra and Mahindra in association with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) set the ball rolling for the ninth season of the BAJA SAEINDIA series. The final will be held from the 16th to the 21st of October in Pithampur near Indore.
This year 395 entries were received for the 2016 BAJA season and out of the lot 147 teams were short-listed for the conventional BAJA challenge and 32 teams were chosen for e-BAJA – a new addition to this year’s competition. The e-BAJA series has been added this year, with the aim to promote electric mobility in the country. The e-BAJA vehicles will be propelled by an electric motor, which will be powered by a rechargeable battery pack.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sudhir Gupte, Convener BAJA SAEINDIA 2016 said, “Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA has been a platform for many undergraduate engineering students across the country to leverage their skills and knowledge. These students, after getting into the industry, use their skills & problem solving techniques to develop innovative technology and effective processes. Through this event, BAJA SAEINDIA is transforming lives of many passionate students who are ambitious & talented enough to do great things in their lives.”
BAJA SAEINDIA series is a platform which provides opportunity to young, enthusiastic and talented engineering students to showcase their passion for automobiles, encouraging them to build and design a single-seater all-terrain vehicle.
