Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in 2022 features new exterior colour options, alloy wheels, upgraded engines, and modifications to the variant lineup, with prices ranging from Rs 5.40 lakh to Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki is revamping its whole lineup, and the new Wagon R joined the new Baleno on the market just a few days ago. Both the outward and internal design characteristics of the new Wagon R are appealing. Continue reading to learn more about the new Wagon R’s design features, safety specs, and price.

The new Wagon R is styled with dual-tone exteriors, new alloy wheels, and a floating top. The Z+ model will have a dual-tone exterior design with two new colour combinations: Gallant Red with a Black roof and Magma Grey with a Black roof.

The dual-tone dark grey and beige upholstery introduce a bit of a twist to the interiors as well. The list of features hasn’t changed. The SmartPlay Studio infotainment suite’s 7-inch touchscreen display remains, with smartphone-based navigation and 4-speakers for music output, as well as support for could-based services.

The engine is the most significant upgrade for the WagonR. The 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre displacements of the DualJet Dual VVT engines are available. The smaller one produces 67 hp and 89 Nm of torque, while the larger one produces 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque. In comparison to the previous generation, the engines now have idle start-stop (ISS) technology and cooled exhaust gas recirculation, resulting in increased fuel efficiency and fewer emissions. The 1.0-litre engine, which produces 57 hp and 82.1 Nm of power and torque, also has a CNG fuel option. The larger 1.2-litre engine is only available in the ZXI and ZXI+ trims, while the 1.0-litre petrol or CNG engine is only available in the LXI and VXI trims. The engines come with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is known for its fuel efficiency, but it delivers even more. The 1.0-litre engine is said to get between 24.35 and 25.40 kilometres per litre of gasoline, while the 1.2-litre gets between 23.56 and 24.43 kilometres per litre of fuel. The claimed efficiency of the 1.0-litre CNG is 34.05km/kg to 34.73km/kg.

The Wagon R’s safety has been enhanced, with dual-front airbags now standard across the range, as required by law. ABS with EBD, a speed alert system, and rear parking sensors are all standard on all model levels. Hill-Hold assist is included in the Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) variants of the automobile.

The base LXI variant of the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been priced at Rs 5.40 lakh. The VXI with the 1.0-litre engine and AMT costs Rs 6.36 lakh, the ZXI with a 1.2-litre engine and AMT costs Rs 6.50 lakh, and the ZXI+ AMT costs Rs 6.98 lakh. The top-of-the-line ZXI+ AMT with the dual-tone finish is priced at Rs 7.10 lakh. The 1.0-litre engine is also available in the commercial-use Tour H3 grade, which costs between Rs 5.40 and 6.35 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
