Volvo Auto India have introduced the new D4 R-Design in India and we’ve been at the wheel heading all over the town and its outskirts.

The XC60 D4 has undergone its first major facelift in stages, first with the new face, and now with the all-new Drive-E D4 engine and eight-speed transmission. The 2015 model has 181 PS and 400 Nm of torque, with one cylinder less in the mew Drive-E 2.0-litre diesel engine; up from 163 PS and the same torque from the older D4-spec 2.0-litre in-line five. The Haldex coupling also runs the latest all-wheel-drive specification.

With more tech, updated equipment and seats that are just as comfortable and ergonomic as we remember, the new XC60 brings a lot more to the table. It’s brisk, handles extremely well and has more driver aids than you would imagine you’d ever need. Typically Volvo, they give you what you really need over and above what you think you need.

Priced at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom , Pune), the D4 R-Design is priced higher than even the D5 Inscription. The amount of kit on the car is extensive and everything from the Premium Sound to the Personal Car Communicator and top-of-the-line leather seats are on offer.

Catch the full road test and performance numbers in the July 2015 issue of Car India.
