‘Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.’ That is how the Dawn has been described by Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes in a recent press release. Through it, he further states that the new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date, and begins a new age of open-top, super-luxury motoring. Indeed, that’s a lot to promise for the cars bearing the famous Spirit of Ecstasy mascot have been nothing less than extraordinary. According to Rolls-Royce, with the Dawn arrives the only genuine modern four-seater super-luxury drophead.

For RR, the equation is very clear, 2+2 ≠ 4! Rolls-Royce believe that the 2+2 configuration, where there is space for two adults up front and two children at the rear (on account of reduced rear leg room), is populated with cars that compromise practicality and comfort in the interests of style and looks. “In the case of a convertible body type, this reduction in space is often the result of the manufacturer’s inability to package the convertible roof together with boot and rear passenger space,” states the company’s release. Rolls-Royce therefore set to design what they believe that no other car manufacturer had achieved so far – that is to make a car that looks as beautiful with its roof up as with it down. The result, was the Dawn, which offers four individual seats that can accommodate four adults in cosseting luxury and comfort without compromising on space anywhere. The seats are complemented by an intersecting full length centre console. The upper seat back houses the seat belt harness, which together with the pillar-less bodywork enhances and emphasises the slingshot of wood or leather with no breaks in the flow-lines.
