The BMW M4 CS has been launched in India for a price of Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom); available as a completely built-up (CBU) model.

BMW say the M4 CS bridges the gap between the race track and the road, and we couldn’t agree more. The BMW M4 CS produces 550 hp, has a highly-tuned chassis, and minimised weight, thanks to a slew of carbon fibre components.

On the outside, the BMW M4 CS sports a weight-saving frameless kidney grille. At the front, the LED headlights are equipped with yellow daytime running lights (DRLs) mimicking that of the GT3 endurance cars. At the rear, a spoiler, a carbon fibre diffuser and a titanium exhaust system with four tailpipes are present. Sharply-styled CSL laser tail-lights are part of the package and they truly help the car stand out. The M4 CS comes with lightweight 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch at the rear as standard. Braking duties are handled by M Compound brakes with callipers painted in red colour. The M Carbon ceramic brakes are available as an optional extra.

Coming to the interior of the M4 CS, the entire centre console is made of carbon fibre which significantly lowers the weight and looks attractive, with the red ‘CS’ lettering. The standard flat-bottom M Alcantara steering wheel has a three-spoke design and has carbon fibre shift paddles behind it, adding to the authenticity of the cockpit. The M4 CS comes with carbon bucket seats as standard and they are fully electric and provide heating function. The seats also come with a cool illuminated badge. Inside the cabin, there is no shortage for attention to detail as there is a striking red CS lettering on the centre console, M seat-belts with contrast stitching, an Anthracite-coloured headliner, and door sill plates with the M4 CS inscription.

Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, in-line, six-cylinder engine. The engine is good for 550 hp at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque from 2,750 to 5,950 rpm and it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The M4 CS can do the zero to 100 km/h dash in 3.4 seconds, helped by the all-wheel-drive (M xDrive) system. The top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h.

While being tested at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit, the BMW M4 CS recorded a time of 7:21.989 seconds for the full 20.832-kilometre lap.

Being a performance-oriented car, the M4 CS has an M-specific setup button on the centre console that grants the driver direct access to the settings options for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system and M xDrive. If you are an enthusiast, you can get a better feel for the car by switching off the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system and purely using the rear-wheel drive via the 2WD mode.

The BMW M4 CS comes with a host of safety features such as head and side airbags for driver and front passenger along with head airbags for rear seat occupants. Additional equipment includes ABS, DSC, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential. DSC with M xDrive enhances safety.

BMW say the M4 CS is not only fast, but also fuel efficient. This is all thanks to a lightweight design, automatic start-stop, electric power steering, differential and transfer case with optimised warm-up behaviour and aerodynamics.
