The extremely popular Honda City has always raised the bar in the sedan segment time and again.
The Honda City is a name that needs no introduction. With style, performance and safety features that are truly best-in-class and even first-in-class, the innovative new City takes things further.
The Honda City is a cutting-edge modern sedan that makes a special place for comfort and safety with technology at its core. The ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body utilizes ultra-high-strength tensile steel plates in the frame, including super-high formability grade steel to provide better rigidity and, thus, more stable driving—and also to absorb impacts during high-speed collisions.
The new Honda City features a slew of active safety aids to ensure that a crash or any untoward incident is avoided in the first place. These include the first-in-segment Agile Handling Assist along with Vehicle Stability Assist including electronic stability and traction control, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)—apt considering its inherent sporty nature. It’s also equipped with Lane Watch camera system, a segment-first feature, which supplements the side mirrors and uses a screen inside for the driver to be aware of surroundings and of blind-spots without having to take their eyes off the road.
For the worst-case scenario, the City also features the world’s first dual front i-SRS Airbag System with Quick Deployment Technology, i-Side airbag system and a side curtain system, for a total of six airbags, and maximum passive safety of occupants. The secondary restraint system is instantaneously deployed in the event of a severe collision or impact. In instances of hard emergency braking, the emergency stop signal alerts road users behind the car of the urgent braking manoeuvre.
That’s not to say the City is equipped for the worst. It has to be prepared for extreme cases where its engineering and technology are the only barrier between safety and calamity. So, it gets some useful additions to make life more comfortable and safer every day. For enhanced child safety, the City has ISOFIX child-seat anchors as well. The four rear parking sensors and the multi-angle parking camera with guidelines, tyre pressure monitor, and auto-dimming day/night inside rear-view mirror all contribute to a safer drive. And it shows in the five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating it earned.
Plus, there’s the standard Honda Connect with some increased safety and convenience features: door lock and unlock, geo-fencing, tow away alert, SOS accident alert and theft alert. This makes for easier interaction and, as an industry-first, these also work with Amazon’s Alexa and “OK, Google”, with a five-year subscription, too.
The new Honda City is, thus, a stylish car that’s also comfortable and fun to drive, while prioritising the safety of the occupants and their surroundings.
