Come the Auto Expo 2014, and Honda will have their all-new Mobilio MPV ready to entice potential buyers.
The MPV segment has grown even more with the more compact likes of the Maruti-Suzuki Ertiga and Chevrolet Enjoy stealing some of the thunder from the erstwhile heroes of the segment the Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Tavera.
Unveiled at the 2013 Indonesia Motor Show, the Honda Mobilio prototype was a much anticipated launch being a model specifically tailored for the south-east Asian market. Based on the Brio hatchback, the Mobilio MPV features a three-row, 5+2 seating configuration. In all probability, Honda will offer the ‘+2’ as an option for buyers who need more cargo space than additional seats. Furthermore, the higher ride height of 185mm adds more all-road capability. The overall length of the body, forIndonesia, is just under 4.4 metres in length, but for India, it could be altered to squeeze into that all-important 4-metre mark.
When the Mobilio does launch in India, we can safely expect it to use the 100 PS 1.5-litre diesel and 89 PS 1.2-litre petrol motor doing duty in the Amaze. No word on pricing, but it will surely be a very competitive tag.
