The Le Mans 24 Hours is considered to be one of the most toughest endurance race in the world.

And, for this event, Japanese car manufacturers Nissan in associational with racing and sportscar manufacturer Alpine have pull the curtains off their new endurance prototype. The Alpine-Nissan car is scheduled to take part in this year’s Le Mans 24 hours and Le Mans series season. Many car enthusiasts will be aware of the fact that 2013 also marks Alpine’s return to Le Mans endurance racing scene after a gap of 35 years.

The endurance-racer will be powered by a Nissan V8 big-block which is mated to Nissan’s state-of-the-art six-speed sequential X-Trac gearbox, boasting an amazing speed of over 330 km/h. Speaking to the media at the event, Bernard Ollivier, CEO, Alpine-Caterham said, “Since the announcement of Alpine’s revival on November 5 last year, we have been moving forward step by step, The unveiling of this splendid car marks the beginning of another phase. It will turn a wheel for the first time very soon, and its maiden race will follow shortly afterwards. The news of our endurance racing programme received a very positive welcome, not only from diehard Alpine enthusiasts, but also from the world of motor racing in general. We can hardly wait to see our brand’s colours in action!”

This Alpine-Nissan developed vehicle will be driven by French drivers Nelson Panciatici, Pierre Ragues and Tristan Gommendy in six events this year, which features five endurance rounds and the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours set to start on June 23. The official test session for this season’s Le Mans Series will be held on March 26-27 in France.
