Ford recently confirmed that the 2014 Fiesta would sport the famed 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine as well as a new 1.6 litre turbo EcoBoost engine.
The 1.0 litre cast-iron block engine uses an external balancing and offset crank and pumps out 125 PS, yet is claimed to set the benchmark for fuel efficiency and NVH.
The ST version of the 2014 Fiesta would be powered by the 1.6 litre turbo EcoBoost engine with 198 PS on tap. Exterior touches include an orange color scheme unique to the car, 17-inch wheels, and a front fascia equipped with a spoiler. The steering and suspension setup has been tweaked in line with the sporty nature of the car, and the addition of a three-mode stability control system and electronic torque vectoring control serve to further enhance the handling capabilities of the ST.
Ford has not commented on the likelihood of the 1.6 litre turbo EcoBoost coming to India, but considering that the launch of the EcoSport compact SUV has been confirmed for 2013, enthusiasts surely can pin their hopes on the company bringing in a S/ST version of the SUV or the Fiesta with the more powerful motor. Stay tuned!
