If you thought that only the Range Rover Evoque was the coolest Rangie available then, take a look at the
gorgeous new Range Rover. Land Rover recently unveiled the latest generation Range Rover which features many new changes and also a V6 diesel engine – a first for a Rangie. Along with the entry-level 3.0litre V6 diesel the flagship 5.0litre supercharged V8 petrol motor will also be available. The new TDV6 diesel engine looks quite feisty on paper as it develops 258PS of power and 600 Nm of torque. It is apparently the lightest engine that you can have in a Range Rover. Along with the small V6 diesel Land Rover is also offering the bigger V8 diesel called the SDV8 that develops 344PS of power and 700 Nm of torque. Apart from the diesel motors the new Range Rover will also be available with the flagship supercharged 5.0litre V8 petrol motor that produces 510PS of power. And all the new Range Rovers will come with eight speed auto transmissions as standard.
The new range Rover is lighter and thus faster than its predecessors and this is due to the use of the V6 diesel motor. Land Rover is also claiming that the new motor is also quite fuel efficient at 13.35kmpl. Despite being equipped with more economical motor, the new age Rangie retains its off-road credentials with lightweight adaptive suspension setup and the lauded Terrain Response system, which now has an automatic mode that monitors and sets up the car automatically. Other changes include a new front end, body coloured bumpers, customisable interiors, striking new alloy wheels and Meridian audio system.
Prices for the new Range Rover start at £ 71,295 (Rs 63.18* lakh) for the Vogue variant and goes all the way up to £ 98,395 (Rs 87.20* lakh) for the supercharged V8 variant. Will it come to India? Of course, Land Rover will be bringing in the new Range Rover to India very soon however, there is no confirmation from JLR yet.
