Brazil gets to see the WR-V compact crossover, the latest in Honda’s line-up.

The WR-V stands for ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’. It was developed based on the research conducted in South America where it was evident that the customers needed a vehicle that looked like an SUV but could provide excellent utility and lots of room on the inside. All of which had to come in a compact package. Honda went a step further and made sure that the WR-V is fuel-efficient and offers a stable handling performance. This might come as a boon for those people who indulge in recreational activities in addition to daily commute.

The WR-V is aimed at the crossover market in India. It is speculated to be priced in the Rs 7.5 to 10 lakh range, sitting in a burgeoning market just above the Jazz. Indian customers can look forward to it in the first half of 2017. The WR-V will be designed based on the Jazz and will have body cladding and roof rails. It will be powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that powers the Jazz, churning out the same figures as the Jazz; 100 PS at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. However, owing to its additional weight the gear ratios may receive minor changes. It will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox.

In the Indian market, its competitors include the Hyundai i20 Active and Ford EcoSport.
