Spy shots of the 207 suggest entry into the hatchback market
AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR Peugeot announced their intention to enter the Indian market. At that time thecompany said that their fi rst car for India would be a mid-size sedan.
Now it seemsthat the French auto giant will also bring a hatchback into India. Yes, we got these images from our friends at motorbeam.com, who spotted the car being tested near the Automotive Research Association of India in Pune recently.
The 207 comes with petrol and diesel engines in 1.4 and 1.6 litre confi gurations. However, we think that Peugeot will only get the 1.4 to India. The car looks very contemporary with its huge, sweeping headlamps and just the Peugeot emblem adorning the grille. The car is a little over four metres in length, which, we think, Peugeot will prefer to keep just under four metres. The hatchback’s price is expected to be in the range of Rs 5-6 lakh.
Although Peugeot have not yet revealed their plans for India, we believe an offi cial announcement might be made at the 2012 Auto Expo.
