Volvo Polestar have revealed their new high-performance S60 with an all-new engine, more power and more features than ever before.

The S60 Polestar has always been a desirable number to fans of the Swedish brand who value safety as much as an engaging drive. The Polestar brand has tested the waters in India but with one foot only: that of performance upgrades. Now, though, India is on the market list for the new cars, a list which has grown from 13 to 47.

The all-new S60 Polestar ditches the 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol in favour of a new 2.0-litre Drive-E four-pot with a supercharger and a larger turbocharger. The engine also features new conrods, new camshaft, new fuel pump, as well as a new air filter and a larger air intake. The result? The 1,969-cc four now makes 367 PS at 6,000 RPM, revving as high as 7,000 RPM, with a peak torque of 470 Nm peaking between 3,100 and 5,100 RPM. Gone is the six-speed gearbox and old AWD system and in comes a Polestar-tuned 8-speed Geartronic automatic with a BorgWarner four-wheel-drive system. The gearbox brings quicker shifts and curve-hold functionality. The 4×4 system has rear-torque dynamic distribution and an optimised stability control system. That’s not all, a new Sport+ mode is available too.

Mechanically, you get better aero work on the body with a Polestar front splitter, rear spoiler, and diffuser. There’s an active exhaust system with twin 3.5″ tail-pipes. It also packs Polestar-Brembo six-piston brake callipers with 371-mm front and 302-mm rear discs mounted in 20″ light alloy wheels with 245/35 ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.

The S60 Polestar weighs 1,751 kg and that translates to 210 PS/tonne, a 0-100 km/.h dash of 4.7 seconds and a 250 km/h top whack. Should arrive in India later this year for about Rs 55 lakh or thereabouts.
