BMW have introduced a Competition Package for the M3 and M4, bumping up power and providing further chassis and component tweaks to enhance performance.
The BMW M3 performance sedan and M4 coupé and convertible models have received their first performance boost option with the Competition Pack. Already potent, featuring a signature BMW 3.0-litre straight-six motor with twin turbochargers, the 431 PS engine, with the Competition Package, gets a bump up by 19 PS taking the total to 450 PS.
Other changes include Adaptive M Suspension re-tuned to handle the enhanced performance and deliver a better handling package with new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, along with reconfigured driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+). The standard Active M Differential on the rear axle and the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system have also been re-configured to match the upgraded dynamics. The cars also get forged, machine-polished, weight- and rigidity-optimised 20″ M alloy wheels with exclusive styling and mixed rubber: 265/30 at the front and 285/30 at the rear. The M sports exhaust system now gets black-chrome tail-pipes.
The Competition Package also includes lightweight M sports seats that deliver perfect support under extremely hard driving as well as good comfort on longer trips. Seatbelts with woven-in BMW M stripes round off the interior changes.
Expect the Competition Package to be offered in India later this year. The M3 Sedan is available from Rs 1.17 crore, while the M4 Coupé can be had from Rs 1.21 crore, both ex-showroom, Delhi.
