Land Rover recently announced the launch of its most capable and most luxurious Range Rover yet.

The all-new model is the fourth generation of the unique Range Rover line and has been developed from the ground up and is lighter and stronger than previous models. The new Range Rover is claimed to be the world’s first SUV with a revolutionary lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure which is 39 per cent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model, enabling total vehicle weight savings of up to 420kg. The lightweight aluminium platform has delivered significant improvements in performance and agility, along with a better fuel economy and CO2 emissions. In addition to the new strong but lightweight body, it’s also fitted with an all-new aluminium front and rear chassis architecture which has been completely re-engineered using a four-corner air suspension system. The new suspension architecture improves the vehicle’s handling and agility plus delivers a flatter, more confident cornering.

While instantly recognisable as a Range Rover, the new vehicle takes a step forward with its bold evolution of the model’s iconic design. Another inclusion is the next-generation version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response® system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings for the terrain. Inside, the 2013 Range Rover has got 4.7 inches of added rear legroom. Rear passengers will also get the option of a new two-seat Executive Class seating package for the ultimate in rear-seat luxury. The new Range Rover comes with the choice of a refined V8 petrol engine and TDV6 and SDV8 diesel engine. Full technical specification and pricing will be released early September ahead of the Paris Motor Show 2012.

The new model has been subjected to Land Rover’s punishing on- and off-road test with a fleet of development vehicles covering millions of kilometres over 18 months of arduous tests in more than 20 countries with extremes of climate and road surfaces. We don’t doubt this is one SUV that will handle the Indian roads with ease.
