Valeo revealed the results of its second International Innovation Contest. Various students from different parts of the world took part in the competition. 1,324 teams from 89 countries signed up to participate and play an active role in automotive innovation by designing a product or a system that will create smarter, more intuitive cars by 2030.

This year the competition saw a vast number of projects, which mainly focused on driving assistance, autonomous driving and safety. Three teams were selected by a jury chaired by Jacques Aschenbroich, CEO of Valeo.

The first prize was bagged by the chinese team ‘Falcon View’ from Peking University. They developed a system where autonomous cars can detect surrounding using camera instead of lasers. The second place was a tie, the German team ‘Auto Gen Z’ form Saarland University, developed a connected system reinforcing traffic safety, by combining images from three mirrors of a car onto a screen. The other team to qualify second was the Indian team ‘MAD’ from Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education. They also developed a syste3m which reinforces traffic safety, by using satellite based navigation, to alert drivers from potentially dangerous conditions as well as also help to prevent collision in real time.
