Škoda Auto India has launched the all-new Octavia in India. The new model is available in a choice of modern petrol and diesel engines with a choice of manual or automatic transmission.
The new Škoda Octavia returns in its new avatar 12 years after it first debuted in India. The all-new model features sharp styling and some contemporary lines, but definitely belies its size. Inside, the comfort levels are astonishing and the dynamics are among the best in the segment. It also brings uncompromised, solid build quality and performance to the table. The boot space is a massive 590 litres.
The new Octavia has been launched with a choice of three powerplants: a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with 143 PS and 320 Nm of torque, a 1.4-litre TSI petrol with 140 PS and 250 Nm and a larger 1.8-litre TSI with 180 PS and 250 Nm available only in top-spec Elegance trim. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard for the 1.4 TSI and 2.0 TDI, while the company’s DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission is being offered as an option, with six-speeds on the TDI and seven-speeds on the 1.8 TSI. Škoda claim fuel efficiency figures of 16.81 km/l for the 1.4 TSI, 14.72 km/l for the 1.8 TSI Automatic and 20.61 km/l and 19.28 km/l, respectively, for the 2.0 TDI manual and automatic versions.
The new Octavia has been priced from Rs 13.95 lakh for the base 1.4 TSI Active, and goes up to Rs 19.45 for the top-end 2.0 TDI Elegance Automatic; both prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
