Ferrari California T India Launch web

Ferrari have officially made their entry into India. The Italian marque also commissioned the new showroom in Mumbai, and launched the California T as well.

The new Ferrari showroom, Navnit Motors at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, will commence full operations in October 2015. This includes sales and after-sales support for service and spares. New customers as well previous customers of the iconic brand can now breathe easy with a team of specially-trained technicians as well as flying support for customers in urgent need now being a phone call away.

The model launched is the California T, with Aurelian Sauvard, Ferrari’s international sales director, on hand to oversee the proceedings. The convertible grand touring car marks the arrival of the California’s replacement; the ‘T’ standing for ‘turbo’. The 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine in the California T is about 450 cc less than its predecessor, but still has eight cylinders, now boosted by turbochargers. The output is a heady 560 PS, with a phenomenal 755 Nm of torque. It’s not just the higher output. The new engine, apart from having about 50 per cent more torque, is 15 per cent more efficient as well. The seven-speed twin-clutch F1-derived transmission drives the rear wheels, and, with all that power and technology at hand, the California T has a claimed sprint time to 100 km/h of just 3.6 seconds.

Now on to the price. The California T has been launched at Rs 3.33 crore. And that’s the base asking price without any customisation or optional features – many of which are available.

Ferrari had earlier divulged similar base pricing for their models on sale. Apart from their hybrid hypercar, LaFerrari, the rest of the range, including the almost-sold-out 458 Speciale, is on sale. They are as follows:

  • 458 Spider: Rs 4.07 crore
  • 458 Speciale: Rs 4.25 crore
  • 488 GTB: Rs 3.84 crore
  • FF: Rs 4.57 crore
  • F12berlinetta: Rs 4.72 crore
