Tata Nano diesel, the much awaited diesel version of the country’s cheapest car, is all set to be the most fuel-efficient car in the Indian market as the company plans to launch a highly fuel-efficient Nano that will run for 40 km on a litre of diesel.

The car is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of this year.

The new Nano diesel will be the most fuel-efficient car in its segment and is expected to have a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. With a mileage of about 40 kpl, the Nano diesel will take the running cost of the car to as low as Rs 1 per kilometre. The Nano diesel will compete with Bajaj-Nissan-Renault’s upcoming small car that is expected to be launched in the country by 2012
