The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo was introduced with the aim of giving drivers a higher seating position along with a lot of space but didn’t exactly want an SUV. Recent reports have shown that this specific model is not doing so well in terms of sales. BMW has said that drivers are moving towards SUV’s and don’t see a future for the 3 GT model. During a financial results presentation in Munich on Tuesday BMW Group CEO Harald Krueger made the confirmation about the production of the BMW 3 GT coming to an end.

In India, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder each in petrol and diesel guise. The diesel engine produces 190 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque while the petrol variant generates 252 PS and 350 Nm. The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has priced the models between Rs 47.70 lakh to 51.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

This decision has been taken by BMW in an attempt to save billions by the end of 2022. Other measures that are going to be taken are reducing vehicle development by a third by replacing costly prototypes with digital simulations, reducing complexity in vehicles and improving synergy.

The BMW 3 Series continues to be among the most popular cars globally and the latest iteration will be making its way to India this year.
