Porsche India has started taking orders for the all-new 991-series 911 GT3, Turbo and Turbo S.
The 3.8-litre flat-six engine has been given the power treatment yet again with a considerable boost (pun intended) being given to the power and especially the torque of the Turbo and Turbo S cars.
The race-track ready 911 GT3 has been sharpened even more with Porsche, for the first time ever, offering the car with the 7-speed PDK (Porsche twin-clutch) automatic transmission as standard as well as active four-wheel steering. The naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six makes 475 PS at 8,250 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. The GT3 has a coefficient of drag of just 0.33 and manages 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds with a top whack of 315 km/h.
The new 911 Turbo puts out 520 PS from 6,000 to 6,500 revs and a huge 660 Nm of torque from just 1,950 rpm all the way to 5,000 rpm with 710 Nm available from 2,100 – 4,250 rpm on using the overboost function. A 7-speed PDK automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive are standard. The drag coefficient is 0.31, even lower than the GT3! Porsche claim the new 911 Turbo hits 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and maxes out at 315 km/h. The optional Sport Plus package slashes that acceleration time to 3.2 seconds.
Moving to the new Turbo S; the flat-six engine gets to sing to a different tune, churning out 560 PS between 6,500 and 6,750 revs with 700 Nm of torque peaking from 2,100 to 4,200 and a massive 750 Nm available from 2,200 to 4,000 rpm using overboost. The 7-speed PDK driving all four wheels is standard as is the Sport Plus package and all of those result in some astounding times – 0-100 km/h takes just 3.1 seconds; 0-200 km/h takes 10.3 seconds; while the top speed is 318 km/h.
Porsche India have just announced the prices for the new models. The new 911 GT3 starts from Rs 2.13 crore, the 911 Turbo is available from Rs 2.19 crore and 911 Turbo S from Rs 2.66 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Yes, it does seem like a bit much, but that’s how the import duty structure makes the moneybag bounce here.
