Mercedes-Benz_A-Class_India_1_webMercedes-Benz India has just launched the exciting new A-Class premium hatchback in the country.

The A-Class is available in both petrol and diesel in a delectable package featuring modern design language and bold styling together with a host of technology, entertainment and safety features which make it a front-runner in a very exclusive pack.

The compact luxury market has seen a spurt of growth. The A-Class has witnessed 90,000 bookings globally since its launch. The design language on the second-generation A-Class is a massive departure from the original car, which was more MPV-like to look at. It features sharp and bold lines, with creases which accentuate its sporty intent and ability. Everything from the carefully designed front grille which emphatically highlights the three-pointed star in the centre to the the bi-xenon headlamps with LED running lights make for an electric front end. The side indicator strips in the mirrors look attractive and integrate well into the design.

On the inside, the A-Class promises to offer ample space and high occupant comfort. Adding to the comfort factor is the automatic transmission. Mercedes offers their 7G-DCT, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which features start/stop as standard. This ensures not just quick acceleration and seamless gear shifts, but also deliver maximum economy. On the safety front, there is what Mercedes calls the “5 senses” which monitor vehicle dynamics and driver input. When their limits are reached, up to eleven assist systems all step in to provide maximum safety in the event of a possible collision or mishap. These include seven airbags, Electronic Stability Program with Curve Dynamic Assist, the anti-lock braking system with brake assist and adaptive brake lights and even the parking brake. There’s also the Attention Assist, Hill-start Assist with Brake Hold and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Powering the A-Class are two fine motors, one petrol and one diesel, both featuring direct injection and turbocharging. The 1.6-litre turbo-petrol makes 122 PS and 200 Nm of torque while the 1.8-litre turbo-diesel makes 109 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Both are paired to the 7G-DCT which drives the front wheels. Both cars feature 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45 rubber. Prices for the diesel A 180 CDI Style is Rs 21.93 lakh while the petrol A 180 Sport costs Rs 22.73 lakh (ex-showroom).Mercedes-Benz_A-Class_India_2_webMercedes-Benz_A-Class_India_3_web
