Lamborghini recently unveiled the 2013 Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo racer, a version of the LP570-4 prepped for the Italian company’s Blancpain-sponsored one-make series.
The race Gallardo has undergone significant aerodynamic re-profiling of its surface geometries and has added some adjustable aerodynamic devices, including a ten-position rear wing. This has led to aerodynamic efficiency improving by 120% over the 2012 model. Remodelled brake ducts allow thermal performance to improve by 50% with better front brake cooling. Higher downforce – by 128kg in low downforce setup and 160kg in high downforce setup – facilitates better balance and dynamics. The car also features new wheel arches, a new diffuser, and different stickering. Mechanical specifications were not disclosed, but the car is expected to have power delivered to all four wheels via the same V10 spouting 578PS. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is a racing series where drivers compete in identical Gallardo racecars. A six-race series took place in 2012 in Europe and Asia, and according to Stephan Winklemann, Lamborghini President and CEO, the series will make its way to North America and the US in due course.
