The 2020 Ford Endeavour will be heading to dealerships soon with a new BS VI-compliant 2.0-litre TDCI turbo-diesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
We have received word that the new 2020 Ford Endeavour is due for launch shortly. Speaking to the dealership, we confirmed that booking are being accepted for the popular full-size SUV. The spokesperson also mentioned a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, codenamed “Panther”, with about 170 hp and more than 400 Nm of torque. This will make the new 2.0-litre unit much more potent than the outgoing 2.2-litre engine. The bigger news is that the new Ford Endeavour will also receive the American brand’s all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. A choice of two- or four-wheel drive is also expected.
The previous Endeavour was offered with a choice of two TDCI turbo-diesel engines: a 160-hp 2.2-litre four-cylinder, and a 200-hp 3.2-litre five-cylinder. The 2.0 TDCI in the 2020 Ford Endeavour will be BS VI-compliant, meaning it will employ advanced emission control for the diesel driveline, including selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with urea-based AdBlue injection, oxygen (lambda) sensors, and a NOx (oxides of nitrogen) sensor, among other elements. The availability of cleaner BS VI diesel fuel is also expected to be stepped up as the newer systems would require much better quality fuel to perform optimally. Refineries and leading petrol distributors are expected to comply before the end-of-March deadline.
With the smaller engine in the new 2020 Ford Endeavour, we do expect a slight price hike, but not substantially over what its larger-engined predecessor was offered for.
