The updated version of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo offers enhanced style and more features.
With competition piling up from its traditional rivals in the last couple of years, BMW India have gone in to an aggressive mode this year and have been on a launching spree. After launching a range of new models such as the new BMW X1 and performance oriented 520d M Sport the German premium car maker also introduced petrol engine versions of its popular sedans – the 3 and 5 Series catering to the changing trends from diesel to petrol in our country.
Now the auto major has introduced the stylish new BMW 3 GT starting at Rs 43.30 lakh ex-Delhi, which will sit between the standard BMW 3 Series and the larger 5 Series. With its oversized coupe-ish design, this unique BMW offering doesn’t have any direct competition from the likes of Audi, Mercedes-Benz or even Volvo.
The updated BMW GT is 190mm longer, 17mm wider and taller by 79mm over the standard 3 Series sedan. On one hand it’s practical notchback-like silhouette adds a dash of practicality in terms of cabin space and roominess, but the unusual design with it raised boot-line and sloping roof has divided opinions.
This essentially being a facelift, BMW hasn’t altered the profile of the car but has added new design elements to freshen up the overall aesthetic. So, now there are trendy new LED headlamps, fog lamps and tail lights, that replace the old ones. Even the front and rear bumpers have been given a little more shape and muscle to complete the updated look.
There are three variants available, the 320d Sport line, 320d Luxury line, and 330i Luxury line. The former two are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine producing 190 PS and 400 Nm of torque. While the 330i is powered by a turbocharged 2-litre petrol engine which churns out 252 PS and 350 Nm. All three options come mated with an eight-speed Steptronic auto ‘box. The 320d Sportline is the most economical offering at 43.30 lakh, followed by the 320d Luxury at 46.50 lakh, and the 330i is the most expensive in the range at 47.50 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
