5-Oct-CI-Wed-7Launch Mechatronics Apprenticeship Programme in Pune
In an attempt to reduce the gap between demand and supply of manpower in the automotive industry, Volkswagen India announced the launch of the mechatronics apprenticeship programme at their chakan plant, near pune, recently.

This three-year training programme is based on the German dual system of vocational education and training and aims at providing employment opportunities to the students in the areas of production, maintenance, planning, quality assurance and r&d. Initially, the programme will start with a small batch of 16 students, selected from among 500 applicants, who will get an extensive training at the chakan plant of VW.

the company plans to take this programme across the country and has set up eight VW academies for the same. the students will be given training about three brands of the company: audi, Skoda and VW. during the course of their programme, the students will also be paid a fixed stipend, starting from Rs 3,000 per month, during the first year. After completion, the students will have the choice of either joining the company’s dealerships or work for some other manufacturer.
