1. Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2
Our number one car in the list is, of course, the incredible Gallardo: the car which turned the fortunes around for Lamborghini; selling over 14,000 examples in various specification. The first model to come from the Italian icon after their take-over by Audi, the début Gallardo, had normal doors and a 5.0 V10 with 500 PS and 500 Nm, paired to a four-wheel-drive system. A drop-top Spyder followed. The 5.2-litre V10 direct-injection model arrived in 560-4 guise, a 570-4 Superleggera, and then, this, the 550-2, rear-wheel-drive only version. A limited LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni edition (with the stripe) paid homage to the company test driver appointed by Feruccio Lamborghini himself.
The Gallardo was replaced in 2014 by the Huracán, which continues to use the 5.2-litre V10 motor, but with a combination of direct and indirect injection, making 610 PS and 560 Nm, with a faster 620-2 Super Trofeo model following suit.
Essentials: 5.2-litre, naturally aspirated, 550 PS, 540 Nm, Rs 2.5 crore (no longer available)
