Home / Home / Porsche reveals new 911 Turbo

Porsche_911_Turbo_webIt’s here! The all-new type-991 911 Turbo and Turbo S are here and they sure look promising.

The 3.8-litre flat-six twin-turbo engine makes up to 560 PS while the new all-wheel-drive chassis is equipped with adaptive aerodynamics and active rear-wheel-steering, the latter debuting on the 911 GT3 that was launched just about a month ago. The new cars will go on sale in September 2013.

The new 911 Turbo and Turbo S feature Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and an active anti-roll system, offered for the first time in a 911. The lightweight design chassis and longer wheelbase, up 100mm, the 20-inch wheels and full-LED headlamps are the major changes. Coming to the powertrains, Porsche is still the only manufacturer to use twin variable geometry turbochargers on a series-production petrol engine. The new 911 Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo, 3.8-litre, flat six, direct injection petrol engine making 520 PS, while the Turbo S has 560 PS. Sending the power to the all-new electro-hydraulic four-wheel-drive system is the seven-speed PDK (twin-clutch) transmission, which features a start/stop fuel saving system as standard. The new Turbo, when equipped with the Sports Chrono package, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds; while the Turbo S manages 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 317 km/h.

When they go on sale in the UK in September, prices will begin from £118,349 (Rs 99 lakh) for the 911 Turbo and £140,852 (Rs 1.18 crore) for the 911 Turbo S.
