Honda finally takes the wraps-off of their creative concept powered by a MotoGP just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show
A few days back we posted about Honda’s innovative new concept the Project 2&4 however, it was just a teaser of the actual thing. Today, Honda has released a few more images of that radical new concept, which highlights the results of MotoGP meeting Honda’s car efforts. This concept, which has won Honda’s ‘Global Design Contest’, will be officially unveiled to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show due on 15th September.
Along with the three new images that show the concept in proper light, Honda has also released some more information about this ambitious concept, which embodies creative craftsmanship and Honda’s racing prowess. The Project 2&4 looks superbly agile as it sits just a few centimetres above the tarmac. The open wheel design clearly hints at its capability on track days. According to Honda, this single-seater provides the driver an experience that truly amalgamates the freedom of a motorcycle and the manoeuvrability of a car.
Drawing from their MotoGP efforts, Honda have fitted a 999 cc V4 four-stroke engine that comes straight from the RC213V MotoGP racer, at the rear. This racing beast produces 215 PS at 13,000 rpm, while the peak turning force is rated at 118 Nm at 10,500 rpm. This V4 redlines at a colossal 14,000 rpm. Honda’s DCT or Dual Clutch Transmission with six-cogs does the duty of transferring all this power and torque to the rear-wheel.
Design wise, the concept draws inspiration from Honda former Formula One racer the Honda RA272. Dipped in shades of white red and black, the Project 2&4 is truly unique in every way. The floating seat enables the driver to sit as close to the road as possible to experience the thrill of a motorcycle. The minimalistic bodywork reveals the beauty of fabulous mechanical components and the core frame of this gorgeous open-wheeled machine. Like modern day fighters, Project 2&4 gets a heads-up display that sits flush just ahead of the steering wheel.
Over 80 designers participated in this in-house design contest and the end-result of the contest is simply outstanding. Superbly executed design with amazing mix of the past and the future, the Project 2&4 exemplifies the capabilities of a company that has nothing but the best on their mind.
